S.H.R.E.D. PREMISE

SOUL HEALTH RESEARCH & EXTERMINATION DIVISION
PREMISE
Project Designation: S.H.R.E.D.

S.H.R.E.D. AT A GLANCE

  • You’ve been abducted from your home reality and surgically implanted with a Soul Capsule. You don't know it.
  • Your character MUST make a choice. Remove a limb, an eye, a tongue, an ear. Any body part. Any prosthetic. They must lose a piece of themselves, what that is does not matter.
  • OR. They can let their world die.
  • Accept, and they save their world!
  • Decline, and they destroy their world.
  • The next part happens regardless of what you choose.
  • You wake in a decaying, isolated town that you cannot escape.
  • You are now a test subject in a program designed to discover how to destroy the soul.
  • Expect invasive experimentation, body horror, moral choice, and escalating consequences.
  • Traitors walk among you. They know who they are. You don’t.
  • Everything is monitored. Participation earns rewards. Sabotage may earn you more.
  • This is not a survival story. This is what happens when survival is no longer the point.
  • Activity is Mandatory Check-in, further activity earns rewards. Each comment or post is generally worth 1 Credit. More can be learned on the shopping page.

IMMORTALITY WAS THE MISTAKE

Death has been cured. Every citizen now receives a Soul Capsule at birth, a perfect, indestructible implant that protects the soul from death. If the body fails, it is replaced. The soul is untouched. Eternal. Safe.

For centuries, society thrived under the illusion that suffering had been solved. Death became obsolete. Grief became unnecessary.

We are going to force it to rot inside the Capsule.

WHY YOU'RE HERE

You’ve been taken by the Soul Health Research & Extermination Division, or S.H.R.E.D. An organization tasked with solving the unsolvable:

How do you destroy a soul from the inside out?

You were selected across dimensions. Extracted without warning. Surgically modified. Given a choice: maim yourself or lose everything. Your world was held hostage. You are now part of an experiment that cannot be declined.

THE TEST SITE

You awaken in a town time wishes it could forget.

Abandoned decades ago. Imperfectly preserved. Impossible to leave.

The border is invisible. If you walk far enough, you reach a hard-light barrier, completely impenetrable. Food is expired. The pipes groan when you turn the faucet, but there's only one regretful, rusty drip. Power is a distant dream. The days seem longer here, but they do eventually give way to night. The only weather is the beating sun and an occasional breeze.

Sometimes you hear voices that aren't there. Things you thought you saw disappear when you turn around. You have short conversations with someone you know, but they look at you funny when you bring it up, like they don't remember.

There are no civilians. But you are not alone. Others have been brought here, other subjects. They remember as much as you do. Which is to say... not enough.

THE EXPERIMENT

This is not a rehabilitation program. It is not a study in healing.

You are being monitored. Assessed. Broken down.

Experiments occur periodically. They range in scale and cruelty. Sometimes affecting individuals, sometimes the entire town. One month may bring starvation. Another may offer poisoned comfort.

Subjects are not expected to succeed. Only to react. Only to survive.

TRAITORS IN THE SYSTEM

Some of your fellow subjects are not victims.

They are operatives. They report to S.H.R.E.D. directly. They are here to destabilize you, to sabotage, manipulate, and cause harm while maintaining their cover.

You will not know who they are. You may never find out.

But if they fail to act, they suffer for it. Sabotage is not a suggestion. It is a requirement.

WHAT KIND OF GAME IS THIS?

S.H.R.E.D. is a horror roleplaying game built around surveillance, forced compliance, and psychological erosion. It features:

  • Characters pulled from any canon or original setting
  • Trauma-forward storytelling and body/soul horror
  • Opt-in Experiments that escalate consequences and difficulty
  • Optional Traitor roles with sabotage mechanics and suspicion tracking
  • A rewards and shopping system based on comment (1 comment = 1 credit) and game activity.
  • Mod-triggered events, both grand and micro.

You are not the protagonist. There is no heroic ending. But you can resist, rebel, or become something worse.

DO YOU BELONG HERE?

This game is for players who enjoy:

  • Slow-burn psychological horror
  • Loss of control, identity, or reality
  • Exploring trauma, compliance, manipulation, or rebellion
  • Building paranoia between characters
  • Systems that reward character-driven sabotage and suspicion
  • Bleak comedy, unreliable systems, and quiet devastation
